Zero Waste Grocer Opens in San Diego

28 Apr 2022

Located on El Cajon Blvd in San Diego, The Mighty Bin has recently opened its doors, reports San Diego’s CBS News 8. The zero-waste grocer has eliminated all single-use plastic packaging and minimized food waste from its operations. Isabelle, the owner, Isabelle DeMillan, is passionate about the positive individual choices that people make that can influence climate change.

The retailer carries grains, dried goods, sauces, spices, dishwashing detergents, soaps, and more. All products  are ethically sourced and free of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Customers are encouraged to bring their own containers to hold the desired grocery item, but if forgotten, there is a stocked jar donation shelf and an option to purchase a new jar.

The store seeks to make a difference in its community. In addition to selling zero-waste products, the location  hopes to serve as an educational hub focusing on how to live sustainably, and eco-consciously.
